Windows XP crash - all icon shortcuts, incl. start menu are

Aug 18, 2007 12:16AM PDT

Hi folks,
my HP laptop is running on Windows XP SP2 with Kaspersky, Zone Alarm and AdAware.
Windows XP is booting fine, all icons are lost (no name shortcuts), including the
ones in the Start menu and programs. Cannot start anything, including the accessories
- "no program assosiated". I cannot run anything in the shell (*.exe or *.com) too.
Same thing in the safe mode - cannot run anything. I succeded running the system
restore thru the first question menu in the safe mode. I returned to the saved state
1 week ago, at the first glance it worked fine, but after one reboot it was the same
mess.
I suppose that this is a registry problem issue, maybe connected with the AdAware/Kaspersky
registry protection - before the crash I vaguely remember pressing YES on some Roll-back
dialog on the Adaware or Kaspersky software.
Does somebody know a solution/ has experienced the same problem? Is there some remedy
software for the registry, that I can run (maybe under DOS or some MiniPE or comparable
booting utility?)
Thank you in advance!
