Try DBAN. Now if you wipe clean a drive you didn't intend to erase, that was your doing!
Yesterday I put together a computer together and everything went relatively smooth until I tried to install XP. My computer was hooked into an outlet that is controlled by a light switch, and it was accidentally powered off during the NTFS format of my partition. Since then I've had no luck when trying to reformat the drive. I've deleted, and recreated the partition multiple times, but the format still hangs up at 10%. Is this something that has a remedy? Because as of now the only thing I haven't tried is using the quick NTFS format, although I have a hard time seeing why that would change anything. Just wondering if I will need to buy a new hard drive or if there is some way to make it work.
