1. See if you can get a System Recovery disc from the maker.
2. Find an XP disk and see if it will do a repair install
3, Find an XP disk for a clean install: either a retail version with an unused license key, or one exactly the same as the disk you lost.
4. Back to your latest working backup image.
5. Buy another OS (Windows 7 if your machine is up to it).
My computer is running Windows XP and will only boot in safe mode, not safe mode with networking. I no longer have the original disks. Windows restore is turned off. I tried going into msconfig and unchecking all non-windows services and all startup programs. I also tried a diagnostic reboot, but the computer gets stuck on the windows flash screen. I also tried sfc \scannow but it does not seem to do anything. Can someone give me advice on what to try next?
