Sorry, no advice from me, just a link to;
http://aumha.org/a/stop.htm
Look for the "ED" entry in the right hand column and click. It will display some comment, and provide a link to a Microsoft Knowledge Based article that may help.

My XP SP2 Home edition computer has a BSOD during startup(showing the boot GUI). The BSOD details are as follows:
MOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME
STOP: 0x000000ED (0X8656FE30, 0XC0000006, 0X00000000, 0X00000000)
I tried using a recovery disk, and ran fixmbr and another BSOD emerged with slightly different details:
MOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME
STOP: 0x000000ED (0X86567900, 0XC0000006, 0X00000000, 0X00000000)
Currently I am runing chkdsk /r, which is proving to be running very very slowly. I will post on more details once chkdsk finishes scanning and repairing.
Thanks in advance for the help.
