The big one

The big one is that Vista, 7 and 8 will still be receiving security patches for several years to come, XP wont. So come D-day when the last XP security patches are pushed out, as soon as the next vulnerability is found in any newer version of Windows, everyone will race to see if XP is also vulnerable. If it is, people still using XP are left with only options to mitigate the damage, there's no way to fix the problem anymore.

Vista and later versions of Windows also have a host of under the hood improvements to make them more efficient on modern hardware.

You could write a book comparing XP to each successive version of Windows and the pros and cons, so I'll leave it at that and you can research the rest on your own.

No Microsoft support after April 8th, 2014.

Anything bad happens to it after that date, you are completely on your own.
