Windows xp activation on new computer

I have just purchased a new computer without an OS to cut costs. I have an old computer that brought xp for and upgraded it and activated it. will microsoft let me install the same xp onto my new computer if i phone them up and explain?

If you have the XP CD and key, give it a shot. All they can say is no.

Thanks i will try im just worried that if they say no that the computer will be locked or something.

Your post didn't tell exactly which XP CD you had. If you have the full retail XP CD, there will be no problem.

If your XP came with some other PC, there could be a problem.

Remember the old PC must have it's OS removed so your new PC will continue to work after activation.

Sorry should have put more info. it is the retail version and i'm scrappping the old computer so all should be fine?

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
