Windows XP issue
Okay, so I have a small dilemma. I have my Windows XP disc. I am currently at college so I am not able to go onto my desktop at home to retrieve my c.d.-key from the registry. I am using a Mac-book, and I want to install my Windows XP onto Parallels. I wanted to know if there was any possible way to get the c.d.-key off of the disc, or from somewhere else without actually having to pay for another c.d.-key. I would appreciate any help. Thanks!

Sorry you need that number from that sleeve/package you got the XP CD in. Also some try to use XP from some HP machine and learn a lesson.

Ounce of prevention

Scan important documents into your PC.
I recently installed Windows XP to my iMac.
I used a scanner to image the original install disk holder with it's printed license key.
It's now on my hard drive and it's backed up to both an external hard drive and to an internet backup service.

XP and parallels

Be aware that you can have some issues if you ever try to use the windows XP with both parallels and bootcamp. parallels is not supported by microsoft and is considered a virtual pc or machine. I ran into a lot of problems with it and adobe because it wanted me to reauthorize my key every time I used them- you are better off to partition and use bootcamp for the PC side if possible.
