On the majority occasions when I try to shut down my computer in the normal way, I get the messages 'Logging Off', 'Saving your Settings' and 'Windows is shutting down' but then the computer just hangs there. After a few minutes with no further action, I turn the computer off by pressing the power on/off button. When I restart the computer, it starts normally.
I am using Windows XP Professional SP3 with AMD Athlon 64 3800+, 1Gb RAM and 2 x Nvidia Geforce 6800 Series GPU
Does anyone have any suggestions for this peculiar behaviour please?
