I have a 3 year old Dell Latitude Laptop that originally had Windows XP installed but I upgraded to Windows 7 about a year ago.
My current problem is when I try to load Windows, the screen comes up telling me that Windows did not shutdown properly and I have options to run in Safe Mode (with networking and with ), or start normally. If I choose normally, the Starting Windows screen comes up with the animated windows logo, after that goes away, the screen is just black. I have a curser, but the screen is totally black, nothing ever loads. I have tried to restart in all of the safe modes, with the same result. The drivers scroll down the screen then the same black screen appears.
After I upgraded to Windows 7, I have been getting Blue Screens (BSOD) on a regular basis, maybe once every couple weeks, on average. Every once in a while, I will log on to my computer and settings will have somehow changed or a new update will cause my computer to not run properly, so I restore it. This is what I did this morning and when the computer was going through the restart process of the restore, the black screen came up.
Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly
Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
