Look under the Startup tab in msconfig (press Windows + R and enter msconfig into the Run box) and disable anything that is unnecessary. Applications which are set to start at system boot rather than a particular user login can, in particular, cause delay at that point.
For some reason, my welcome screen is acting quite peculiarly. It used to be that I could simply type in my password, press enter, and the Welcome Screen would appear instantly, and then my laptop desktop would load in a matter of seconds. Now, when I type in my password and press enter, it remains on the password screen for quite a long time before the Welcome Screen shows. At that point, it takes another few seconds until my desktop loads. Does anyone have a solution, or suggestions?
I run on a HP Pavilion dv6607nr Entertainment Notebook PC with Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit. I have 4 GB of RAM installed, with an AMD Athlon(tm)64 X2 Dual-Core Processor TK-53 1.70 GHz. The graphics card installed is a NVIDIA GeForce Go 7150M. Thanks in advance for all your help!
