Windows Vista not working with Samson CO1U Condenser Mic

My laptop is an HP Pavillion dv291)us, Operating system is Windows Vista Home Premium (32 bit) with Service Pack 1.

I just purchased a Samson USB Studio Condenser Microphone CO1U and cannot get it to work. Anything I can do to get it to work or do I have to replace it with something else?
