Windows Vista = Microsoft version of a Mac

Feb 7, 2007 12:58PM PST

Yeah, so, my dad got a new laptop with Windows Vista. It sucks, in my informed opinion. It feels like a Mac, with it's balloon-like icons, its generally confusing 'features', and cluttered layout. There are, however, some interesting utility aspects that I wouldn't mind seeing in an XP, but unfortunately, the cons out weigh the pros, at least for now. I'm sure the system will change. And if it doesn't, and people actually like it better than it's predecessor (which I highly doubt, but hey, anything is possible) than that'll make XP's cheaper for me, so its allllll good Happy
Altec Lansing is a fairly good company as far as durable, affordable laptops go. The one that my dad purchased is small and has a flimsy, and what seems to be a very breakable exterior. Minute size in a laptop does not bother me in the least, however, the proximity of the 'embossed' mouse pad and the keyboard is ridiculous, not to mention the random and utterly incoherent placement of the USB ports, external video plugins, and lan port. The wireless feature is weak and the speakers are nothing to brag about to your next door neighbor.

In short, if you are interested in the latest technology from microsoft, go play with it at circuit city displays before investing hundreds of dollars in what seems to be a poor piece to technological machinery.

Any thoughts?
