Windows Vista Language

Jun 30, 2007 5:20PM PDT

Hi everybody

I purchased a new Sony Vaio computer with Windows Vista home premium, The point is I had to choose between either French or Dutch language. I do know French but I prefer English, & I was a bit lost with the new system plus the language.

I would like to know if there is way to have an English version? Is there an upgrade or a way to have the English language without losing all the software preinstalled in the computer.

Looking forward to reciving your kind reply & help

Thanks a lot for your kind reply & help

I checked it out, it seems I have to install a language pack which I did but it did not work.

I still have no idea how to change the language of the Windows Vista, I found it stupid that there is no option to change the language, or an upgrade.

Still searching for a solution.

Only Windows Vista Enterprise and Ultimate editions support the application of MUIs, so it's not an option for you as a Home Premium user. You do have some control by going Control Panel->Clock, Language, and Region, but aside from that you're stuck with it unless you can either convince Sony to send you an English edition or you purchase an upgrade to Vista Ultimate. (Enterprise is for volume license customers only.)

Sorry.

there is no way to change the actual OS language

it may be possible to do a 'repair' install (install the Vista you want over the existing version) other than that, a clean install and then re-install your programs

hope this helps

I have not seen a language choice during Home Edition installation. I am sure the only way to change Home Edition is to buy a new DVD in the language you want. That's not a very convenient way to switch languages. My Mac is preloaded with 15 languages and you can change to a different language without restarting. I wish Vista Home Edition had the same language options.
