Windows Vista Home Premium - No File Permissions?

by vb_packets / January 30, 2007 12:56 AM PST

I cant seem to change the file permissions with this build of Windows Vista. Did microsoft pull this out of this build by any chance to change file permissions?

If so is there any other way i can change the file permissions?

Congratulations. The first (consumer) question about the new OS on this forum. Sorry, I don't have an answer to your question though.

Two suggestions...

Off hand I can't remember which one you must do for Home Premium, but try disabling simple file sharing (it's in folder options) and rebooting into Safe Mode. One of the two should restore the security tab and enable you to change permissions.
