This might be a problem that isn't very intuitive.
When we burn data onto a CD the burning software offers us the option of "Closing the session". If we don't, then more data can be added to that CD. If we do, then no more data can be added.
But one of the effects of not closing the session is that only that PC can read the CD. If you close the session, that makes the CD compatible with other computers. Here's what Mcrosoft says about that;
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Close-or-finalize-a-CD-or-DVD
I hope that helps.

I made some CD's using SONIC software on a Dell laptop which is about 5 years old. I can view the picture files from the CD on this Dell Laptop but when I bring the CD to my new SONY Laptop running Windows also, it cannot see any files or even explore the CD, absolutely nothing.
I have tried on 2 other new computers and also the same. One other older computer and it can see the files.
Must I have SONIC installed? That seems stupid. I am looking at their site www.sonic.com which just sends you to roxio.com and they are charging for their softwaredecoders etc. if that is the problem.
I have a roxio home user UIO bundled on this Sony Laptop which runs Windows Vista Home Edition but that cannot open the CD, but is does give some details on how much information is on it ( e.g. 894MB) but not the files.
I am not used to having problems like this, if you burn a CD surely it should be readable on all computers, I have never had this problem before, although I always make sure to check.
Is is a format issue?>/ not really sure what that means, why is the disk not fornatted anyway it reads in old computers but not new ones. thanks if this is a simple problem for you.
