Windows Vista Home basic Admin problems

Dec 31, 2011 5:46AM PST

I have Windows Vista and im having a certain admin problem. I dont know how this started, but all of a sudden when i click on shortcuts on my desktop, it says something like choose the program. For example, when i try to launch something like internet explorer (which i dont use) it says Choose the program you want to use to open this file. File: iexplore.exe. and its been doing this for ALL of my shortcuts except for google chrome for some reason. I also KNOW that im a admin on my computer and its still treating me like a standard user. Any help?

Any viruses or malware recently?

Have you had any viruses or other malware recently?

What has changed since it worked properly?

What about your other Admin account. Does that work?

Sounds proper.

Downloading it would do nothing. And if it's not the LNK issue then it may not be the right idea. It's a safe thing to use so let's hope you can run it.
