But I'm with Microsoft on this one.
Just like when XP came out, a lot of games didn't work as a result of improved security over the older DOS based Windows versions. Vista's the same deal, though whether the changes represent an improvement to security are debatable.
You're just going to have to wait for game developers to come to grips with the changes in Vista. It's the price you pay for being an early adopter. Though another way to look at it is, SOMEONE had to do it. If everyone waited until all the kinks were worked out, there'd be no one to find the kinks in the first place. All you can do is just wait until it's fixed by the developer, assuming you don't want to just reinstall XP or have a second system laying about you could use for games.
This also helps reaffirm that I made the right move when I switched to console gaming a year or two back. I buy a game for any of my consoles, I can take it home confident that all I need to do is pop it in the tray and let it load. No worrying about if I have enough RAM, if my video card is up to the task, dealing with programs in the background that may hog CPU time... I get to spend more time enjoying the game, not having to futz about with half a dozen other things to make the game work. I'm also a huge RPG fan, particularly those with long developed stories, and you just don't find a lot of deep and involving games for the PC. When and if there's a StarCraft 2, I might revisit PC gaming.
So, does anyone else think that it is very humorous and kind of irionic that vista now has a game menu in the system, that it brags about being this grand gaming OS. but yet from my experience only 30% of the game out from the last 6 months work with the system at all?
The beef i have with it now is Aspyr's GOTHIC III, i bought it for 40$ and all it does is install and ....glitch. dies. Aspyr has a very bad supprt site and microsoft says to contact the manufacture of the game.. isnt this a big loop of lies that it covering up Vista's early flaws?
you tell me, and if there is a way to play GOTHIC III on vista home prem. please let me know
