As far as I am aware it will NOT delete your recovery partition. The reason I say so is because all laptops I have ever used keep the Recovery Partition hidden. So when you format C: you are only formatting the partiton that is visible to you, not the whole physical drive. Just to be safe it is always best to make recovery disks.

Thanks for your prompt reply.

I once manually formatted my C drive using MS-DOS, and after that my F11 restore function didnt work, i had to take my whole PC back to IBM.

Quick restore function.

The hidden partition containing the default OS will probably not be removed if you reformat. However, the "function" being an app or prog, (i.e. a utility from IBM installed, as with other programs) may be deleted so that you will not be able to make it work to "Recover" from the hidden partition. Depends on whether the quick recovery function works from the hidden partition or from the system partition. Suggest you contact IBM support, or the user's menu. So, if you have not, create that recovery disk.
