Windows Vista and P2P programs - Limewire

Feb 20, 2007 7:27PM PST

I am on the verge of buying a new Compaq laptop which already has the new Windows Vista Premium system installed. I've heard from several sources as well as from exploring this forum that Windows Vista is not compatible with programs such as Limewire and EMule. Just wondering whether anyone has any information on this?

Not sure, but.......

in any case I would really try and stay away from such P2P programs as Limewire, eMule, BitTorrent, etc.

Besides the often stated problem of downloading illegal copies of files, (videos, music, programs etc), without a bundle of anti-malware protection behind you, the risk of downloaded infected files is a risk I personally would not care to take.

I have had Limewire for a year on Window XP and have had no problems, I do have a good virus protector though. It's a great program. I would check out the Limewire website forums or Q&A's and see if there's anything on there that may help answer your question.
