"Longhorn" is renamed "Vista"

Today Microsoft announced the official name of its next-generation Windows® client operating system, formerly code-named "Longhorn." Video of the name announcement can be seen via the link below.

According to Microsoft, Windows Vista:

Enables a new level of confidence in your PC and in your ability to get the most out of it.
Introduces clear ways to organize and use information the way you want to use it.
Seamlessly connects you to information, people, and devices that help you get the most out of life
Microsoft also announced that Beta 1 of Microsoft Vista, targeted at developers and IT professionals, will be available by August 3rd 2005.
