My update notice shows 13 updates but only 12 are checked. KB 3021917 is unchecked.

All our machines had KB3021917 unchecked as well. As mentioned by Kees above, none of our machines are set up to respond to the Windows Customer Experience Improvement Program (CEIP). I doubt the update is required, since it appears to simply report performance problems to MS, but I installed it anyway.
The I update I referred to in your link was an IE vulnerability fix.

Most of my Windows 7 PCs had around 20 updates, but I don't remember which were unchecked. It's pretty normal to have unchecked updates though because things like drivers are optional. I had 11 Windows 7 to update, and the no. of updates varied by system because some had different things, some were Window 7 Pro, and some were Home Premium. I had a bunch of updates for MS Office 2007. YMMV.
