Windows update problem with configuring

Apr 24, 2015 11:32PM PDT

Hello Recently i bought a new ssd. I wanted to have my windows installed on my ssd since the faster boot. I installed windows on my ssd, but i at some point i messed up in formating my old hdd. I don't think that this is the problem since i formated it later on. I changed my installation file from my old ssd (cHappy til my hdd (fHappy by going in to regedit. The path was "HKEYLOCALMACHINE -> SOFTWARE -> Microsoft -> Windows -> Current version. Then i changed the ProgramFilesDir and ProgramFilesDir (x86) til a new location. My old location was my ssd drive, (CHappy then changed the path to my hdd (FHappy. Now when i shut down my computer, windows updates 175 files, but i when i start up again, i get an error saying something went wrong in the configuering of the updates, restores updates. I get this problem everytime i start up my computer. My question is there a wat to fix this, or would it be easier to reinstall windows on my ssd?
Another minor problem i have. My google chrome shortcut on my desktop, disables after i have opened up google chrome. It says the shortcut does not exist. I installed google chrome before i changed the installation path

Just reinstall Windows on your ssd and don't mess with the registry. That should solve all your issues.

How do you mean "everything but windows itself"? Your swap file, hibernate file, all your profiles and the programs Windows installs itself in Program Files and Program Files x(86) are on that SSD also, and that contributes to the fast backup. So don't mess with that! But you can install new programs on the hdd (although that means they start slower, so only do that for programs you don't use much) and you can put all your own data there.

How big is your ssd (how many GB)? 64 GB is workable, 128 GB is fine.

No reason to use regedit then.

All will be fine without that.
