Windows Update Mystery

Dec 13, 2003 5:21AM PST

Got notification yesterday that an update was available for download - some security issue with MS Frontpage. Did what I normally do - went to WindowsUpdate site and checked for updates, only to be advised that were none at this time. Also got the same response from the Office XP update scan. The update notification has not returned. Any ideas from anybody about what might have happened?

This is a known "bug" to Microsoft and the short of it is, they don't have a clue what's causing it. Eventually they'll figure out something, but until then just know that MS doesn't plan on releasing any patches for the rest of the month.

Many thanks for the info. Frontpage came as part of an Office XP package supplied by my employer but I have never used it, nor am I likely to, so I think I'll leave things as they are. Another check on WindowsUpdate stated that no updates were available at this time.
Cheers for now.
