And here's the killer problem. The above doesn't help me narrow it down. Last week I worked about 5 Wupdate issues and the solution in 5 cases had 5 different solutions. In one case the W7 OS was so banged up with registry cleaners and malware that I used the nuclear option and upgraded to W10. Which worked like a treat. A discussion about malware and registry cleaners followed.
Hi guys, I've been trying to install the necessary hotfixes to be able to install Oculus Rift, but Windows Update is giving me trouble. I'm running on Windows 7 Professional SP1 on 64 bits. Here's the list of issues as I can best detail them.
Windows Update is not working correctly:
- It doesn't download new updates (It stays stuck and never downloads anything)
- It doesn't install manually downloaded updates (It gets stuck on "finding updates")
a) When trying to execute an .msu file, not only does it get stuck on a window with a message saying it's looking for the update in my computer, it also creates a new folder on the C:/ directory with a different numeric name every time and with the symbol of a lock on it.
- Trying to use the "WindowsUpdateDiagnostic" program says the issues have been fixed, but these problems persist.
a) WindowsUpdateDiagnostic finds the following problems:
i) Windows Update Error 0x80070057
ii) Problems when trying to install recent updates
iii) There used to be a similar 3rd issue, but in the latest run of the WUD it wasn't encountered
Any help is appreciated. Thank you.
