windows update

Mar 16, 2011 4:55AM PDT

The windows update for my windows vista os has updates for third party drivers such as NVIDIA and LSI soft modem. How safe is it for me to download these drivers rather than searching for them at their websites myself?

I'll Suggest: DON'T Do That

Microsoft does NOT produce drivers for third party devices. If you want drivers for your hardware, visit the computer manufacturer's website or visit the specific device manufacturer's website for that hardware.. Download drivers from there..

And more importantly, if your current device and drivers are working correctly, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it".. On these forums, we've seen way too many problems with the drivers recommended by Windows Updates.

Hope this helps.

Wow.. and I thought my question was kinda

dumb and paranoid. Thanks for the advise

Grif- I won't be making any changes to my

computer any time soon though I'll probably

get a copy of drivermax just for a backup.
