Windows Uninstaller question

Does this program allow you to uninstall one program at a time, or does it mess with every program that it lists?? I need to uninstall Windows Defender.

Thanks.

Windows Uninstaller question

In reply to: The whole dirty....

That's where I got the link for the uninstaller. What I don't understand is whether or not it just lets you uninstall only one item off the list or if it affects all of them. The reason I ask is because of what the warning/info box says when you run it. It says something about "you may need to reinstall some or all of the applications that used the installer." Now to me that means that if I use it, it's going to mess up everything on the list of installed problems.

Thanks for your help and patience.

When I use the Windows Add Remove feature (this is the Windows uninstaller) I can choose one item. If you are referring to something else like the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility then I can use that with some care but it's never a worry since I can reinstall anything on my machine with ease since I have my set of CDs and more.

You will be OK.

Whilst the Windows Installer Cleanup utility is very powerful, it will only clean up the selected program's installation configuration.

The Microsoft article that was referred to in Bob's link says;

"To do this, select the programs that you want in the Installed Products list in the Windows Installer CleanUp dialog box. After you make this selection, the utility removes only the Windows Installer configuration information that is related to those programs."

So, just be careful only to select the program you want to clean the installation configuration files for, and so effectively uninstall that program.

I hope that helps.
