Windows Theme Reload Problem

by Gringomez / December 23, 2006 1:41 PM PST

Hi,

I have a ACER Ferarri 5005 laptop. The problem concerns the Themes (Display Properties>Themes)

A Ferrari based "Modified Theme" is automatically loaded every time I start the machine - desktop, screensaver etc..

I can change the theme successfully during one session, say to Windows XP. However, on restart or log-out then log-in the theme will revert back to the modified Ferarri Theme.

I've tried to delete the theme but it always reappears in the pull down menu (Display Properties>Themes) under the title "Modified Theme".

It's annoying. Can anyone shed any light on how to permanently change the theme?

Cheers,

Duncan

This Should Work

Load the theme you want to use, then save that theme as the Modified Ferrari theme file. This will over write that theme with the one you want to use, so if you would like to go back to the original Ferrari theme someday, save it first with another name.
I hope this helps you out.

Hi David,

Tried your suggestion but it didn't work - two "modofied themes" appeaed in the drop down menu on restart and it reverted back to the Ferrari one.

There is no actual theme file for the Ferrari theme saved in the default location (My Documents), it's hidden like the "classic" and "xp" theme files. It's probably hidden in one of the 10000000 Windows directories. Perhaps if I could find it I could delete it.

Thanks for your help anyways - and merry xmas!!

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
