Windows Task Manager-Processes

How do I know which Process I need to have running and which ones that I don't need. I am running WinXP.

"Msconfig" DOES "WORK" on Windows 2000 machines, but it isn't installed by default. All you need to do is borrow one from the Windows XP operating system and place it in the "C:\WINNT\system32" folder of Win2000. Please see the link below for those instructions,,if you chose to use them:

MSCONFIG.EXE

Since we ARE answering a question asked by "Mudfish67" who has Windows XP which DOES have the "System Configuration Utility/"msconfig" I thought it was appropriate to mention both locations for programs/processes.
