Installing Windows today is pushing the limits of everyday folk. I no longer support clean Windows installs because makers rarely document how to do this anymore. I can't be sure if you know to use a support Windows version or the right driver and app install.
To dual boot I use the usual factory issued restore media (or that I made) then boot the Linux distro and let it repartition and install.
If the laptop fails to work with the factory restored OS, then it's back to its maker for repair.
have both ubuntu and windows installed on my laptop. While installing the anti-virus software in windows, I was asked to restart the laptop. The grub menu is coming, but when I select windows, the error system thread exception not handle is shown. The system tries to restart, which brings me again to the grub menu and the same problem occurs again. Ubuntu is working just fine.
