Windows Start time

Aug 8, 2007 9:41AM PDT

I am trying to access the previous time that windows started, not the current. I know that it has to be logged in the registry somewhere but I can't seem to find it. Any ideas or suggestions will be greatly appreciated!!

System Restore? Maybe in Safe Mode and "Choose Last known Good. . .?" Not sure what you mean.

If I have a running windows XP system
Aug 8, 2007 10:18AM PDT

I am just trying to figure out when the last time the operating system was restarted. My security folder is blank, my system folder has a bunch of things triggered at different times. Which would be the right one go by for windows start up.

Then it is Event Viewer > System you need

In Event Viewer look inside the System events.

Look at the time column, (2nd column from the left) and the Source column, (4th col from the left). Scroll down to look for gaps between two "eventlog" entries.

The last entry of the previous shutdown will be eventlog. Double click it to open up its Properties window and it will say "The Event service was stopped". This is when the computer was shut down.

Look above that for two more eventlog entries. The top one will say "The Event log was started". That is when the computer was started up.

Using the combination of date, time and source column entries you can work out when the computer was booted up and shut down.
