You can use the Cd key came with the cd if you useing an upgrade cd you will need the other version of Windows to verrify you had previouse Windows I really recommend not doing a repair Install mostly causes more problems than anything I recommend verry highly to do format total reinstall.
my wife has an e-machines W-2060 AMD Athlon 2000+, 512 mb/ddr/sdram,XPHE. machine was given to her as payment of a debt. seems to be acting very strangely and would like to do a repair install from an upgrade cd since since no recovery disc can be found for this box. my question is when i run the repair install will the cd key originaly assigned to this pc work on the install or will i have to use the cd key that came with disc? i am hoping original cd key will work since the the upgrade disc is alrerady in use on another pc
