... of WLOC? MAYBE MS security essentials would do it.

If Microsoft has abandoned you

And you don't find it online, head to drivesavers.com. They do this all the time.

In the future why not just save the files without backup software. A simple copy will be easier next time.

There's a nice article there about restoring from this mess.

Sorry but the Forums are eating the original link but all I can offer is I checked it out with Web Of Trust and more.

It has been awhile, i remember something popping up, saying "Back up your files to a disk", which was once a month.

That's a good idea, backing up your files. But it's an even better idea to know how to get them off that disk if you need. It would even help if you knew what program gave that message.

By the way, what does "I won't let me" or (maybe better: "It won't let me") in your first post exactly mean? What is "it", what are you doing and what happens? Logic dictates the "it" is "Windows Live One Care" (it can't be anything else given what you write), but that's unlikely because you say you don't have that any more.

That's the point mate.

The guy has backups on discs and no longer has the program, it's defunct. He needs to get back stuff he has on the discs and this tool should do it.

Can be found by googling: onecarebackuprestore
Then it's the fourth hot or so.
