Windows once again installs updates without prompting

by Marianna Schmudlach / October 15, 2007 2:53 AM PDT

Since the last Patch Tuesday, Windows users have again been reporting problems with Windows Update. Even those who say they configured their system for the manual installation of updates are reporting that Windows has automatically installed them. In September, Windows Update was found to be the culprit when Microsoft secretly updated Windows computers, and the procedure seems to have been similar this time as well. Last Friday, Nate Clinton, Windows Update Program Manager at Microsoft, reacted to the charges, explaining that the Update Team had analyzed the log files it received. According to Clinton, neither the automatic update (AU) client nor the updates it installed were responsible for the current settings for automatic updates in the log files. He asked everyone affected by the problem to contact Security Support.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
