Windows Messenger Notifications

Mar 4, 2004 4:44AM PST

Something appears to be wrong with my Windows Messenger... I have tried uninstall and reinstall and the problem still exists...

When I log into Windows I get my normal notication "you have X new messages" but while I am working if I receive another email I don't get any notification at all.... It didn't used to be like that.... As soon as I received an email I would get notified but now I don't know unless I manually check it.

Anyone know what the problem is?

Hello,

That doesn't appear to help the problem. I am not talking about the welcome screen.. I'm talking about the little popup that used to come up via Windows Messenger that would tell me I have a new message in my Hotmail Inbox.... For days now my welcome screen is stuck at "1 new message" and so is Windows Messenger... I can receive emails all day long and it will not notify me...

It's more aggravation than anything else.. I would just like to get it working again Happy

Travis,

There is a small download of 59KB from Microsoft that does that. Do a search for "Windows Messenger Add-in for Hotmail Alerts".

I would send it to you if there was a way. Happy

Nice feature!

Still not working.. I don't know what the problem is but it's time for a system cleanup anyway.... Reformat should solve everything.... I've installed and uninstalled so many programs over the last 6 months that maybe that is the problem...

Who knows.

Travis, sometimes it takes...

A good system cleaning and reformat to get rid of all the bugs... especially after a long period of time with much activity.

Anyway that little download does work with Win XP Pro and Outlook Express as I just recently reinstalled XP and did not have the popup hotmail mail notification until the add-on was installed.

Good luck and happy computing!

Happy
