Windows Messenger - can't connect

Jun 29, 2005 6:16AM PDT

I have been trying to start a video conference with my daughter - we have both recently installed webcams which both work OK. Both PC's are using Windows XP and have broadband connections but although we can send an invitation to join the VC we never get further than the message that's displayed at the bottom of the screen 'Connecting to X's PC'. I also get a large black square displayed on the desktop.

Grateful for any help.

Check any firewalls...

Make sure Messenger is allowed access to the Internet and to act as a "Server". I use MSN Messenger 7 and ZoneAlarm firewall and those setting in ZA must be made.

Only a suggestion to check out.
