Windows Media Problem

Oct 27, 2007 12:50AM PDT

I have both Windows Media 10 installed and also Real Audio. For some reason recently when I try to listen to an internet show (that I was listening to with no problem using Windows Media)after Windows Media opens I get this message:

Windows Media Player cannot play the file. If the file is on another computer, verify that you are connected to the network. If you typed a path, verify that it is correct. If the problem persists, the server might not be available.

Can anyone assist me? I am using XP Personal, Pentium 4 2.0 with lots of ram. Thanks. Also I was able to listen to the show on another computer from work so it cannot be the server.

My Anti-Virus Software was preventing Windows Media to get my internet streaming medial to work. All is ok now.

Glad you figured out your problem. I do recommend that you get your free update to Windows Media Player 11. It's a real step up when viewing streaming video.

I've found that having the 3 major viewers (RealPlayer, QuickTime and Windows Media) and getting my necessary codecs and plug-ins from
free-codecs.com allows me to view any and all media I run across. I just open or access the media and the player best suited for the job handles it automatically.

It also solves the annoying Mpeg 4 plug-in requirement when burning my DVD's with Nero.

Happy Viewing,
