Try the VLC player for these files;

That Windows Media Player 11 error code C00D1199 is common, but there is not always a single answer. It may be a CoDec problem, or something else. The VLC player has it's own codecs and can usually play most files.
Just one thing though about email attachments. It is not a good idea to play attachments directly from the email software as your anti-virus might not get a chance to scan it properly for viruses. Much better to save the file to your hard drive, scan it manually with your anti-virus, then play it if it comes up clean.

I have been emailed files with .wmv extensions and when I click on the file, and the WMP11 opens I get the following error message;
?Windows media player cannot play the file. The player may not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file?.
The error code associated with this message is C00D1199. I have searched for a solution through the MS website and was going to look for a codec offering through Google or Bing. I just want to play files like I used to. Do I have to go back to a prior version of WMPlayer? HELP!
