Windows Media Player Error message ?

I am receiving the following "Windows Media Player Error message" when trying to use my CD drive on my computer.

"MMSYSTEM 262 There is a problem with your media device. Make sure it is working properly or contact the device manufacture."

I'm using Win98, Avast AV, and Zone Alarm.
