Question

Windows Media Player and License Acquisition

Sep 8, 2015 2:05PM PDT

Hello, all:

I have a Windows 7 laptop and my Windows Media Player is version 12.0.7601.18840. When I try to play some of the songs in my library, WMP says "downloading media usage rights" and then gives an error that says "Page cannot be found". It seems to be trying to access this non-existent website: musiclicenses.liquiddigitalmedia.com. Some of the songs are ones I've owned literally for years. Can anyone shed some light on the situation? Why would I suddenly be unable to play some songs? Thanks in advance for your help.

So you have the license for years, but it can't be validated any more. Looks like you have to contact the seller about what happened with the site used to verify it and ask for a replacement that works. The internet isn't static.

Or contact liquid. http://www.liquid.com/ has a contact email. But their site gives an "error fetching feeds", so it might well be they just are out of business.

For such cases, but legally ONLY for such cases, it's best to make a copy without DRM after buying such music. Audacity should have done it, I think.
