Question

Windows Media Player

Aug 11, 2017 6:41AM PDT

Hi Everyone, I was trying to play a dvd on my HP laptop but Media Player kept playing up. I decided to uninstall and reinstall. I followed the instructions to untick media player from the media features folder in turn on/off windows apps in the control panel. However, when I went to reinstall I was unable to expand the media features folder, thus I was unable to tick the relevant box on the drop down. I contacted Windows through their chat help line and was told to restart my computer. When this didn't work, I was told to complete the process in safe mode. When this didn't work, I was told to set up a new user, which hasn't worked either. Can anyone suggest a simple way for me to retrieve the option to expand the media features folder please?

Hey, not sure if this is an option for you, but teh easiest way to fix your issue is to install Windows Media Player Classic. It plays so many more files than the "NEW" one and it install a bunch of necessary drivers that can be used by WMP and VLC among others. One of teh first things I do when Iget a new PC is to set up my list of favorite apps and Windows Media Player Classic is one of the first things I install along with WinRar, WinZip, FileZilla, etc. Hope this helps.
