Windows Media Player

Don't know if this is the right forum or not but here goes. On Saturday I paid for and downloaded a couple of songs from MSN Music. They Played alright then but ever since have refused to play. They say a codex is missing. The codex is 161 and is available in a download of codex 9. Have downloaded several times but get same error message.

It's too similar to other Microsoft software which is not ready for primetime.

While I rarely admit defeat, Windows Media Player is far too twitchy for me to tinker with any more.

WMP MINI FAQ

To find almost all that is known. I will share the most common issue is spyware damage and firewalls. Removing the spyware does not remove the damage and reinstalling WMP doesn't fix the damage either. I did prove the issue to one person who paid for it by putting in a new hard disk, loading the OS proper and showing it working on their machine. But how to fix their damaged OS?

That's the million dollar question.

WMP

Hi,

I too have a similar problem. WMP doesn't play all what is audio/video streaming. I did everything and still doesn't work. It only says "connecting to media", lasts for ever without doing anything. I think there is no solution to this problem yet.

There is a solution.

I noted it.

I failed to note that you can pay Microsoft to fix it too via their (pay) support lines.
