Windows Media Player 11 XP

Jun 22, 2007 10:26AM PDT

I have always in the past just burned copies of c.d's and installed under My Documents - My Music, and have lists that contain:
Opera, Classical, World, Jazz, Blues 1930's, Cajun,Edith Piaf, Portuguese Fado.

When I click on Windows Medial Player to play these c.d's how do I organise them into Lists that I can undertand and follow. At the moment they all seem to be jumbled up.

What is the best and correct way to add c.d's to Windows Media Player?

Hoping someone will help as I find the instructions on Windows Media Player confusing.

wmp 11's library allows you to sort music by recently added, artist, album title, songs, genre, year, rating, and folder (and a few others). if its jumbled, you're probably in the "songs" view. just click the Library top button (if not already highlighted), choose Library from the left hand list, and chose your desired view. it sounds like you're accustomed to the "genre" view.

Thanks Ramarc!

My problem is as follows:
Under Artist I have Unknown 34 songs
Under Songs/ Album Edith Piaf - I have Classical, Opera and Blues also - Why ?
Under Genre I have Unknown with 29.4 hours - which are also mixed up.
How do I put them into the correct place as per my lists under My Documents / My Music?

Thanks

When Windows Media Player gets too many genres for an artist, they will try not to be wrong and include everything they get their hands upon..
For example
For artist, George Winston, genres which show up are numerous, like rock, classical etc. (did not actually try it out, just using as an example)

I think WMP edits the genre and other album info for you like many other media player including itunes. It happens if your cd is a burned copy. Most of the times if its legit, it will find all the info and everything goes well. Sometimes your CD maybe legit and not too famous, your source might not have all the info.
