Windows Media Player 10 AutoPlay lists help

Aug 24, 2006 4:05AM PDT

I've searched thru the forums and on Microsoft.com but I can't find the answer to my issue.

I have the new chocolate phone which is compatible with wmp and not itunes, so i have to learn to use wmp. I don't understand how the autoplay feature works. I am used to the Smart Lists feature in iTunes.

I have a 2G nano, and I would create various smartlists that would limit the size to 1.86G to fit on the nano. these playlists would auto update then based on last time played, playcount etc whenever I synced the ipod.

When I try to mimic this in WMP, it's not easy. I've only gotten as far as size. When I set the size to limit to a certain amount, WMP always makes it much less than the size. For instance, i set it to 512MB and it puts one song on the list. A 3 minute song! If I close the playlist and reopen its edit screen, it will populate with new songs, but never the same amount of songs. Sometimes 6, 1, 20.

I am really confused. I have songs in my library that are mp3s for this to work. I double checked to make sure the file formats were correct and that no other options were selected, like genre etc.

Any advice is appreciated.

And I guess the more important question is - can i export the playlist to the flash card? If I cannot then it does not matter about figuring out the playlist thing.
