Windows media center error?

Aug 7, 2007 11:21PM PDT

I have Windows media center running in the background when I reboot so I can update my guide. I get this debugging message:

Microsoft.Ehome.Epg.Database.GuideDatabaseConnectionException was unhandled
Message="Exception of type 'Microsoft.Ehome.Epg.Database.GuideDatabaseConnectionException' was thrown."
Source="ehepg"

When I try to manually update I get a Windows Media center Store Update Manager error (via event viewer)

It Appears to Be The McAfee Program...
Aug 8, 2007 2:24AM PDT

Mcupdate.exe is the McAfee autoupdater. Try disabling the SPAMKiller portion of the Internet Security program that appears to be on your computer.

If that doesn't fix the issue, you may need to confirm the McAfee relationship to the error by uninstalling the entire McAfee suite. Check to make sure the problem is gone, then reinstall McAfee or some other AV program.

Hope this helps.

Then It's The Media Center Update Program That's Faulting
Aug 8, 2007 4:40AM PDT

...it's also called "mcupdate.exe". Have you tried manually downloading and running the Media Center updates for Vista? The most recent cumulative update is at the link below. Do you have it installed? If not, please do so and see if it corrects the issue.:

Thanks for your help. This is what i found out; Currently there is no hot fix to fix this issue and you have to pay $60 CND for Microsoft Support, so they can send you a file.

Did You Try The Registry Edit Listed?

And did you talk to Microsoft? Frequently, they will send you the file without paying.

Just curious.

For your information Grant.

It is not you.

I purchased at Avery TV card {$149.00-latest technology} and tried for hours to get the Vista Premium Media Center to work properly.
My partner is an Electronic Engineer from England that writes and builds hardware and software for the USArmy at Fort Bragg, NC.

Both of us struck out trying to get Widows Media Center to work properly.

Now you tell me what the average "Harry Home Owner" is going to be able to do.
