Windows ME Will Not Load Correct Driver

Oct 25, 2004 12:25PM PDT

I currently have Windows ME on my PC. I have added an internal DVD+RW Drive to my system. For some reason, Windows ME will not install the driver for this DVD Drive, despite all known attempts to load the correct Driver. I do have the installation CD that came with the driver. It continues to load the best driver available which is the Microsoft generic driver. Has anyone experienced and has resolved a similar problem? Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Thank You.

There are no "drivers" you need to load/install for a DVDRW. It's noted as a DVD until you run the recording software.

The most common errors are that many forget to enable the second IDE channel in the BIOS, have the jumpers set incorrectly or forget to install motherboard drivers. Microsoft does none of these for us.

I once had a similar situation with an IDE channel.
Bob gave me similar advice and then mentioned as an after thought, that the ide channel may not be enabled in the Device Manager. I went there to check and sure enough, that was the fix.
Hope this will help.
