windows me to xp

hope i post this in the right forum for the rigt info i need. Can someone help me or am I crazy I thought an upgrade was so you can go to the next step of windows. I read the book and look it over two times unless I am missing something this cd is telling me that I need to buy windows xp home edition and not the home edition upgrade to put on my computer I keep getting this message

Windows xp feature pack
Windows xp is require to install this software please install windows xp and then use this cd to upgrade your digital media experience in windows xp

If that?s the case why do I need the upgrade if it?s telling me to buy the full version of windows xp? And looking in the book I have windows me on my computer I don?t thank they will let me switch window xp because I open it

The latest version of Office may indeed require Microsoft Windows XP for the OS (or Windows 2000...)

Tell more.

sorry had wrong cd i have it up and running but one problem i keep getting this message can someone help

You downloaded the driver, but did you INSTALL it ?

yes i did but my speaker icon is no longer in my task bar and some reson it seem like with the volume is all the way up sound like its half way after install drives. message still come up.
