Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool

MS says this tool runs once a month in the back ground.

How?

Is this a scheduled task?

If so....which task is scheduling it?

I've never seen it run.

AsI understand it,

and I think Cassandra's link shows, there is an updated MSRT released each month. When your system receives Windows Updates it downloads the latest tool, and this installs and runs immediately in the background.

I ***-umed that monthly was something I was doing on my end....a scheduled task or such.....which I could not find.

Monthly MS feeds me this util.....it runs....if no problems it exits.
Got-It.

I have a question...

Cassandra, I see that you are on the Microsoft WinTeam. I've always wanted to know this: If the Windows Software Removal Tool really is so Malicious, then why would anyone want it on their computer? Happy
