Windows mail user & password problems HELP Please

Nov 28, 2007 11:42PM PST

Hi,
Please can any one help.

I run windows mail in vista home premium.
Every time I attempt to connect to mail a windows security box pops up,asking to verify user name & password.
When I fill in required information and tick remember my credentials after a short time the box just reappears asking for same information.

After anything between 2 & 10 attempts it finally connects and I can send & receive messages.

This problem started about 2 months ago prior to this it worked fine and didnt prompt for user/password.

I have listed some of the error messages that come up until it finaly decides to connect.

Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Subject 'Re: [Ticket #BIU-94851-590]: Password problems', Account: 'pop.freeserve.com', Server: 'smtp.freeserve.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F

Account: 'pop.freeserve.com', Server: 'pop.freeserve.com', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR [IN-USE] Unable to lock maildrop', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92

Any help to rectify this would be most appreciated.

Regards Nigel.

Windows mail user & password problems HELP Please
Dec 3, 2007 10:05AM PST

I had the same problem after installing the Net 1.1 update. I found that re-entering the username and password on the account properties did the trick:
In windows mail:
Tools
Accounts
Select the account
Properties
Servers tab
Enter user and password, check remember password.
Apply.

Hope this works for you
