Windows Mail attempts to download large message

I am operating Windows Vista on a newer Toshiba notebook, with McAffee Virus protection as well as SuperAntiSpyware. Even prior to installing SASW, I began to notice when starting Windows Mail, it would be "Receiving" for much longer than necessary. When I exit, the progress bar shows it is receiving an extremely large file or message from my Earthlink pop3 account. I suspect this is some trojan I've picked up, because when I go to earthlink webmail, there is nothing in my inbox. I generally use task manager to shut down Windows Mail prior to the message successfully downloading.

Scanning with both my antispyware program and Mcaffee doesnt find anything out of the ordinary.

All my Windows updates are current.

Anybody else have this problem or any ideas?
