Windows Live Messenging

Nov 24, 2009 5:29AM PST

How do I disable Windows Live Messinging? I selected it when installing Windows7 and now I can not stand how long it takes to load at startup delaying my use of the computer. I never use it and should not have included it when I installed Windows Live Mail. I searched the Microsoft User Groups and Micrsoft Windows7 site with no luck. I tried deleting the file but it won't let me because it is running. Of course it is since it loads before I can do anything. HELP.

Windows LM removal

Windows Live Messenger is part of the Live Essential pack. So, when you go to remove it, you should look for Live Essentials in the Add/Remove programs list.

Once you find that, hit uninstall and the uninstaller will ask you which program of the pack you want to uninstall.

Just as a question, was it just the startup time that turned you away from Windows Live Messenger? If so, you can always disable it it in the startup menu.

You can do this a couple of ways, but here's an easy one:

1) Click Start
2) Click All Programs
3) Right-click on Startup and select "open all users"
4) Find the file you wish to remove (WLM in this case) and delete that file from the startup folder.
5) Close the folder

Just doing my due diligence here.

Cheers,

Ron
